Thinking About Brow Lamination in Brisbane? Here's What You Need to Know

You've probably seen it all over Instagram lately:
those perfectly fluffy, brushed-up brows that look effortlessly groomed from the moment you wake up.
That's brow lamination, and it's one of the most requested treatments we're seeing at Mai Lashes Brisbane right now.
If you've been curious about it but aren't quite sure what it involves, this guide is for you.
We'll walk through what brow lamination actually is, who it suits, what to expect at your appointment, and how to look after your brows afterward.
What Is Brow Lamination?

Brow lamination is a brow treatment that reshapes and sets your natural brow hairs into a lifted, fuller-looking position.
Think of it as a gentle treatment for your eyebrows that redirects the hair without any needles, pigment, or permanent commitment.
The results gradually fade as your natural hair growth cycle continues.
A softening solution is applied to the brows so the hairs can be brushed into shape.
A setting solution then locks them in position.
The whole process takes around 40 to 60 minutes, and when it's done, you walk out with brows that look naturally full and styled.
Results last between 4 to 8 weeks, depending on your hair type and how well you look after them afterward.
What We Use at Our Salon
At Mai Lashes Brisbane, we use a cysteamine-based system for our brow lamination treatments.
Without getting too technical, cysteamine is considered one of the gentler options available in professional brow lamination. It works gradually and with less chemical stress on the hair compared to older-style systems, which makes it a good fit for a wide range of clients, including those with finer or more sensitive brows.
We chose this system because we care about the long-term health of your brow hair, not just the immediate result. You should be able to enjoy beautiful brows without compromising the condition of your hair over time.
What Can Brow Lamination Do for You?

Brow lamination is a great option if any of the following sounds familiar:
Your brow hairs grow in different directions and are hard to tame in the morning
Your brows grow downward, making your eye area look heavier than you'd like
You have patches where the brows look a little sparse. Lifting the hair upward can actually make the brows look wider and fuller than they are
You're interested in more defined brows but aren't ready for microblading or tattooing
Brow lamination works with the hair you already have. It doesn't add pigment or break the skin. For many clients, it's the ideal middle ground between doing nothing and committing to something permanent.
Our Brow Lamination Menu
We offer a few different options depending on what you're looking for:
Brow Lamination & Wax
The foundation of the service. Your brows are laminated and shaped with a wax to clean up the surrounding area. A great starting point if you haven't tried lamination before.
Brow Lamination, Wax & Dye Tint
Everything in the above, plus a professional brow tint to add depth and definition to the colour. A popular choice for clients with lighter or fair brows, or anyone who wants a more complete result in one appointment.
★ Brow Lamination + Lash Lift Combo Special
Our most popular combination. Brow lamination and a lash lift done together in one appointment. Transforming both your brows and lashes at the same time makes a remarkable difference to the whole eye area. It's the kind of result that genuinely changes how your face looks without any makeup.
Available with or without tint for both brows and lashes, so you can choose the level of finish that suits you.
If you're not sure which option suits you best, please reach out to us via DM or text before your appointment and we'll help you decide.
What to Expect at Your Appointment
Your appointment starts with a quick conversation about what you'd like your brows to look like. We'll look at your natural brow shape, the direction your hair grows, and your hair texture before we begin.
This isn't just a formality. It genuinely shapes how we approach the treatment for you.
The treatment itself is completely painless. You'll feel the solutions being applied and brushed through, but there's no discomfort involved.
Most clients find it quite relaxing.
A few things to keep in mind before you come in:
Avoid retinol, AHAs, and exfoliating skincare around your brows for at least 72 hours before your appointment
Come in without brow makeup if you can
If you have sensitive skin or a history of reactions to beauty treatments, let us know when you book so we can arrange a patch test beforehand
Please note: treatment may not be possible on the day if any of the following apply to you.
Known allergy to wax
Henna or brow tint applied within the last 48 hours
Spray tan applied within the last 48 hours
Severe sunburn in the treatment area
If you're unsure whether any of these apply to you, please reach out to us via DM or text before your appointment so we can advise you ahead of time.
Aftercare: How to Keep Your Results Looking Great

The first 48 hours after your treatment are important. Your brows need time to fully set, and getting them wet or applying products during this window can affect how long the results last.
▼ For the first 48 hours, avoid:
Getting your brows wet (including showering, swimming, and heavy exercise)
Applying brow makeup or skincare directly on the brows
Rubbing or touching the brow area
▼ Ongoing aftercare that makes a real difference:
After washing your face each morning, use a clean brush to reshape your brows before they dry. This is the single most important habit for keeping your results looking good
We recommend using Style & Coat, our brow and lash coating serum, after brushing your brows each morning. It helps lock in the shape, keeps the hair moisturised, and supports the longevity of your lamination. No rinsing needed
Be gentle when cleansing around the brow area
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Is brow lamination safe?
A. When performed by a trained technician using professional products, brow lamination is considered a safe treatment for most people. At Mai Lashes Brisbane, we use a gentle cysteamine-based system and take time to understand your skin and hair condition before we start. For clients with sensitive skin, we recommend a patch test prior to your appointment.
Q. Does it hurt?
A. Not at all. Brow lamination is completely painless. You'll feel the products being applied and brushed through, but there's no discomfort involved.
Q. Can I add a tint in the same appointment?
A. Yes. Our Brow Lamination, Wax & Dye Tint service combines everything in one appointment. It's a great way to get a more defined, polished result without booking separate sessions.
Q. How soon can I wear brow makeup again?
A. We recommend avoiding brow makeup for the first 48 hours to let the treatment fully set. After that, you're free to style your brows however you like.
Q. How often should I come back?
A. Most clients book every 6 to 8 weeks. This gives enough time for the lamination to naturally fade before the next session, and it helps maintain the health of your brow hairs over time.
Q. Can I combine it with a lash lift in the same appointment?
A. Yes. Many of our clients choose to have both done together. It's a great way to refresh your whole eye area in one visit.
