Mai Takei, the founder of Mai Lashes Brisbane, began her journey in the lash industry in September 2016 with a

simple home salon, fuelled by her passion for lash artistry. At the time, she juggled casual jobs to make ends meet, unsure if she could truly call herself a business owner. Yet, Mai was driven by a dream - to build her life around her craft. Determined to succeed, she honed her skills daily, a commitment that started at an eyelash extension school in Japan, where she mastered the basics in three months. When she arrived in Australia, she faced the challenge of navigating her career without strong English skills or a support system, learning and refining her techniques independently.

Her dedication to excellence paid off, transforming that small home salon into a thriving business. By November 2024, Mai Lashes Brisbane had expanded to three locations, including a flagship in Brisbane CBD. Along the way, Mai built a team of like-minded professionals, won prestigious global lash competition awards, and earned recognition as an industry leader known for her impeccable service and expertise.
